13 years ago life handed me the biggest bunch of lemons I had ever had. My mom died unexpectedly. It was not a good time in life for me. I went on a down hill spiral that lasted a good 5 years. I spent the first 8 years dreading the approach of August 9th because of the unhappy memories that it would bring. The unending sadness of missing my mom. The sea of what if's.
Then on August 9th of 2006, God decided it was time to turn lemons into lemonade. He gave me this sweet boy:
And every August 9th since
we have had reason to celebrate
and celebrate is what we have done
Happy 4th birthday Laine Anderson Davis!
Your Gran'ola picked you out just for us. Thank you mom!

It's amazing how our God can give our wounds repair.
ReplyDeleteWe have a similar story in our family surrounding G's birth date (not my Mom but another close family member). February used to be the dreaded month in our family with 4 deaths in 2 years in that month including a 36 year old but now...the celebration of life on that woman's date of birth (vs. date of death).
Congrats to 4 years of Mommy-hood. Happy Birthday, Laine!!
That makes me cry. I did not attach those dates. How beautiful that you have "a new thing" that God is doing right in your home. That makes Laine all the more amazing.
ReplyDeleteFour. How did that happen?
Happy Birthday to you guys.
Dear Carla, I have read this several times and each time it makes me so very happy to have you as my grand-childrens mother. I am so very blessed. I also am impressed that you have turned your lemons into the sweetest lemonade you could have! I really believe that your mom had a hand in your blessing. Love you. Mom Grage
